Use of mobility in automobile is no more a surprising thing now. It’s already in process. We are using connected cars for last several years. But with increasing penetration of mobile technology in every sector, automobile companies particularly those which make cars, have also begun to concentrate on adding mobile based technology to vehicles manufactured by them.
The biggest help mobile technology can provide to a car-driver is avoiding serious collision with other vehicle jumping a red light. Today’s mobile phones have built-in GPS and Wi-Fi technologies that don’t cost as expensive as radar and camera based collision avoidance systems. Many companies are looking for cheap alternatives to expensive systems by integrating mobile technology in their cars so that even budget cars can be secured with collision avoidance systems. Mobile technologies are making vehicles sense and become smart as well as contributing safe, cleaner and more efficient driving experience.
With embedded mobile technologies, receiving real-time information about traffic jams, parking availability in particular area, road works, etc can be much easier. Apart from this, with dedicated apps smartphones can also provide updated information for any road accidents. Mobile technology can enable greater response time of emergency services in the occurrence of accidents.
IT companies are already offering mobile technologies for cars. For example, they have enabled voice announcement feature for road directions and turns in their map apps so that drivers do not need to look towards mobile display while driving their vehicles and searching destinations. Google and Apple have already initiated their strategies for using their mobile technologies in cars.
